Summer is here and my daughter insists on picking up EVERY shell she finds on the beach. Actually not every shell, she's fond of clam shells and I pick up every other shell! We spend hours combing the beach in hopes of finding elusive sand dollars and sea glass - I guess it's a good thing one doesn't find sea glass so much anymore - less people littering :) I saw this image over on an-magritt and knew instantly what my daughter and I will be making this summer - probably lots of them!

In true It Girl fashion, I've lost track of the days of the week! We had a long holiday weekend, which against the weatherman's predictions was gorgeous, so we spent everyday hitting the beach and dining plein air with friends in Rockport. As I posted previously, we stayed at a friend's cottage which she graciously lent us and we can't wait to go back again for the 4th of July! That said, my plate is full this week - I have to prep for Misha & Puff's look book SS 2013 photo shoot happening next week AND finish sewing the remaining tutu's for my daughter's ballet school Sleeping Beauty performances which are next weekend - just one week till dress rehersal - YIKES! Throw in some baseball games and I'm barely home these days. Needless to say, I haven't been focusing on my clothing desires as of late, but I guess IF I Were an It Momma, my daughter would need to dress the part and I have been oggling some Bonpoint which would look adorable on her. Since we spent the whole of the weekend at the beach this outfit is particularly calling to me. My daughter started wearing bikini's last year at age 4 which I frankly am not to keen on, but it was hard to argue against her wanting one so bad when it's all she sees me in. I like this Bonpoint one because the print keeps it young yet much more sophisticated than the usual kiddie swimsuit. We always pack a sweater for the beach just incase and the matching bag and bandana - LOVE!

We are spending the holiday weekend at a friend's cottage in Rockport (MA). We had a lovely first day spent at the beach rock climbing and the weather forecast which originally called for rain has been changed to sunny so tomorrow looks like another beautiful day - fingers crossed!

In keeping with my camping theme, Mille Bornes is the game that travels with us when go away in the summer and this is the version we have! I ordered this a few years ago off someone on Etsy and had it shipped to the post office near where we stay on the Cape. I had tried to buy it in stores and no place had it! In the end I was glad because I got the version I remember playing with WAY cooler graphics than the new version and my son was sooo excited to get to go to the post office and pick up a package being held for him. It has done nothing for our French (although I do enjoy shouting coup-fourré completely incorrectly), but it's great for basic adding and for some reason it just makes me think of summer.

So the other day I posted about my desire to own a bell tent and do some "glamping". I commented maybe I should scour Etsy for some glamping accessories and today I did just that! Here's a glimpse at what I put together. To see sources and buy gear check out my treasury Glamping minus the bell :(. Keep in mind we are glamping here so although I may not need a vintage camp scarf, it would look nice and maybe I will just sit down and write some notes on the vintage campfire girl stationary (note I was a campfire girl!). Notably missing from Etsy was vintage cots - hhhhmmmm, may need further research.
I just noticed that while creating my treasury someone bought one of the blankets! Yikes! Hurry and head on over if you see anything you like before it's gone!

If I were an It Girl I probably would have spent the day shopping rather than sewing tutus! But there are worse things to do than sewing tutus, plus it's great to see the girl's expressions when they try them on - they are all so excited. I have a hard time getting them off them during fittings! Just a few more to go and I'm not up against my deadline yet (phew!) I still need to go through the images from the photo test that I did with Angela last week for my picks as well, but this one here I know will make it into my portfolio. Thanks again to Anna for lending me some Misha and Puff! I am going to be working with Anna next month styling Misha and Puff's S/S 2013 lookbook so I'll have some sneak peaks at next spring's collection...

I've been so busy with work and family that I haven't scoured Etsy for fab finds in weeks. I have taken a little time to hunt for a tent for my family for this summer. Last summer we started camping and loved it, so this summer it's time to upgrade from the sleeps four squished like sardines tent that we borrowed from a friend to a tent of our own. Of course I dream of owning a bell - how sweet would it be to camp in one of these....
Keep in mind I live in the States where bells are still scarce (read prohibitively expensive) and my husband is not keen on lugging around 50 lbs of canvas, but I can dream, maybe I can scour etsy for some fab luxuries for our sure to not be luxurious tent...

I find myself pinning quite a few houses with large expanses of glass. As it is, I've lived in loft spaces the better half of my life so it's no wonder I am drawn to houses with large windows.

I'm not sure why other than my mother's name is Olive so Olive Oyl popped up in a conversation earlier this week, but my son has recently become obsessed with Popeye. We watched a few REALLY old cartoons the other night and tonight we tried finding out why he is called Popeye (unsucessfully I might add, something about losing an eye maybe?) Anyway in our search we learned a lot of Popeye history including the fact that he was credited with saving the spinach industry in the mid 30's and he was the first cartoon character to have a public statue built in his honor. I also stumbled upon this and it just so happens my son (and I) are Wilco fans as well...

That's right - Paco Rabanne, some of you may not even be old enough to recognize the name, but he is back and I was too young his first go around so IF I were an It Girl I'd be wearing his Autumn/Fall collection daily! Paco Rabanne is known as the father of unwearable clothing, of clothing made out of non-ordinary materials. This new collection (designed by Manish Arora) blends all that is Paco Rabanne with knits and wovens making it everyday worthy. Luxury fabrics with metal accents - LOVE!
